Do you remember when you were young playing a game in which one person starts a story, and others take a turn adding to it, until the tale goes in all sorts of crazy and fun directions? I suppose that game is what inspired my first concept for Tweet-a-Vision. (Twitter = 140 characters and let’s you share a thought. Tweet-a-Vision = 14.0 seconds and lets you share a vision.)

I’ve produced all sorts of non-scripted TV shows and documentaries over the years. I love being the one in control, determining the voice, style, tone, and message of a production, but I think it’s about time EVERYONE has a chance to wear the producer’s hat, sit in the director’s chair, or be the up-and-coming host or talent.

Since joining Twitter, I’ve been trying to figure out how to make the old passive TV formula more in tune with today’s times. Social media creates a brand new playing field.  The visual or TV arts should be interactive and way more collaborative.  You might call Tweet-aVision an experiment, but I think the potential is vast.  I already have a dozen ideas for future episodes, but I don’t want to be the only creator. Will you help me produce the next generation of television?

About JANICE JENSEN

Executive Producer/Director/Writer

It could be fate or just great luck, but Janice says the very best projects always seem to find her. It started back in the mid-90’s when she was hired to produce and write segments for what became one of Animal Planet’s first breakout hits, EMERGENCY VETS. One thing led to another, and Janice became series producer on another fantastic Animal Planet strand, BREED ALL ABOUT IT. (What could be better than a series about dog lovers and their favorite purebreds? Hard to imagine.)

Janice then took a turn on the scripted side, and developed a crime reenactment strand for the same network. Called BUSTED, the series recreated true crime stories that were solved, in part, by animals. Once again, a project led to another even cooler opportunity, and Janice was producing what she likes to describe as a movie/documentary hybrid. WILDLIFE WARS followed the real life cases of retired game warden Terry Grosz as he tackled poachers and other knuckleheads in the backwoods of California during the 1960’s.

Because variety is the zing and zest of life, Janice then took a turn at managing the post side of a NY-based studio talk show hosted by Dr. Mehmet Oz, Oprah’s popular medical expert. Then it was off to Brazil and other exotic and sandy fronts to capture WORLD’S BEST BEACHES for Travel Channel. More time on the sand meant more one-hour specials for the same network; and then life took a turn toward a new frontier.

Tackling sports is something Janice does as a hobby, but CHASING LANCE allowed her to combine her outdoor activities with her TV passions. This 8-part special series for the Discovery Networks followed Lance Armstrong and his team through their “final” cycling season before Lance captured his record-breaking Tour de France win. The series was nominated for two Emmys: Best Sports Special and Best Editing.

Other shows throughout the years include a 1080i Heli-skiing one-hour adventure for HD Theater, a Travel Channel special that takes a nostalgic look at our favorite holiday travel memories via celebrity commentary and our own personal home movies, and so much more.

In recent months, Janice has developed two new potential series for Animal Planet, and wrote/produced a very special hour featuring Emma and Taylor Bailey, conjoined twins who share the same heart, but continue to make miracles happen. If you get the chance, please check out TWO SISTERS, ONE HEART on Discovery Health Channel (…which will soon become OWN, Oprah Winfrey Network.)

This year continues a journey that promises to be even more inspiring and uplifting. Her dream is to produce the “next generation of television.” Immersive. Interactive. Revolutionary. Together, we will meet extraordinaire people who touch our hearts and let us see the world in a whole new way.
